现代著名学者、哲学家胡适先生说过：一个人堕落的方式很多，总括起来约有这两大类：第一是容易抛弃学生时代的求知识的欲望。第二是容易抛弃学生时代的理想人生的追求。要防御这两方面的堕落，有三种防身的药方值得一试。第一个方子只有一句话：“总得时时寻一两个值得研究的问题”。第二个方子也只有一句话：“总得多发展一点非职业的兴趣”。第三个方子也只有一句话：“你总得有一点信心”。

　　我也觉得，职业之外，的确该做点有益的事，以拓展人生。于是我喜欢上了书、画。半百之人，总会有些感悟。于是，我借画说话。何以为证，自己来过这个世界?所以，我决定出版《一画一世界》这本书。

　　三十余年的书法研习，为我作画打下了一些必要的基础。

　　几十年对自然、社会、人性的观察、体验、思索，我积累了一些必备的素材。于是，我以我手写我心。

　　一天，我把小作呈给张士增老师看，张老师认真地说：关注社会、关注心灵，这是一个很好的切入点，角度新，有创意。大凡一个人得到赞扬，总会深受鼓舞。

　　有一天，我把一些拙作颤颤巍巍地呈给王子武老师过目，王子武老师给出了三点评价：其一、很有思想。其二、很有趣。其三、很幽默。我又问王子武老师：我走这条路子好吗?王子武老师说：行。于是，我信心大增。

　　又有一天，工艺大师王欢来先生六十大寿，我把画给同来贺寿的好友王世通先生雅鉴，得到他高度认同与激励。

　　物换星移，万物有道。老子曰“道生之，德畜之，物形之，势成之”。文章千古事，得失寸心知。用心灵可以感知天地万物。《一画一世界》将帮助你更好地感知世界、感觉社会、感悟人生。

　　对过去、现在和未来所有支持、帮助、激励、包容我的亲友、同道，我深表敬意。在此一并叩谢。

Afterword

　　The well-known contemporary scholar and philosopher Hu Shi once said, there are many ways for one to fall into disgrace, generally in two categories; the first being the discarding of eagerness and curiosity for knowledge that one normally has in the years as a student, and the second being that one is prone to abandoning the pursuits for ideals that are normally cherished as a student. To guard off these two lures to fall, there are three protective medicines worth trying. The first one is simply a proverb: “One has to find a couple of problems worth studying at all times.” Similarly the second medicine is offered in a proverb: “One should develop some interests outside the occupation.” So is the third medicine: “You should always keep some confidence.”

　　I also feel that one needs to do some meaningful things outside one’s occupation, as a way of exploring life. That is how I became fond of calligraphy and painting. When one is in his fifties, he should have some thoughts and reflections about life, so I speak in paintings.

　　To prove I have once lived in this world, I decided to have TO SEE THE WORLD IN A FRAME OF PAINTING published.

　　Over thirty years of calligraphy studying have prepared necessary foundation for my paintings, I can write and paint.

　　Decades of observation, experiences and contemplation of nature, society and humanity have accumulated necessary materials for me to write or paint whatever in my mind.

　　One day, I presented my sketches to Mr. Zhang Shizeng for review. He commented, “In your works, there is concern about society and heart of good approach, new angle and genuine creation.” People usually become greatly encouraged by praise.

　　One day, I humbly presented my sketches to Mr. Ziwu Wang for comment. He pointed out that they were profound, interesting and humorous, and then I asked, ‘Can I keep working in this field?’ He firmly agreed, ‘Definitely.’ Thus, I gained more confidence.

　　Another day, I presented my paintings to my dear friend Mr. Wang Shitong for comment who came along with me to celebrate Art master Mr. Wang Huanlai’s sixtieth birthday. The paintings were highly thought of by him.

　　Time passes as the universe travels in its own track and there is a way destined for everything. As quote from Laozi “Way of the universe gives them their existence, virtues give them cultivation, environment makes them grow and the trend of time gives enables their accomplishments”, words can record the passage of history yet gains and losses are felt in heart. The soul is to feel everything in this world. To See World in a Frame of Painting will help you better perceive the world, feel the society and be enlightened of life.
